Do you sell digital files?
Yes, they are sold in various quantities. However, I do not sell unedited images. Contrary to popular belief it does not make my work easier. In fact, it has nothing to do with workload but everything to do with copyright.
Do you have an online gallery?
No. A photo viewing and ordering session will be held at my studio when the photos are ready for viewing. Print orders are to be placed during the ordering session. As such, all decision makers MUST be present at the ordering session. A full payment is required at the ordering session before prints can be ordered.
Do I own the images?
It is a condition of all my sessions that when you book a session with me, you are required to sign a Model Release. The Model Release Form as well as the Portrait Agreement are sent to you when you have booked and paid the session fee. The session will not commence unless these 2 documents are signed. With the signed Model Release, the copyright is retained by the photographer and The Colour In You Photography and thus grants me the permission to use any images from your session. While it is true that the images are of you and/or your loved ones, however it is the photographer who creates these images.
You may have purchased the digital files but it does not mean that you own the copyright. When you purchase digital files, you will be required to sign a separate agreement. That agreement gives you the permission to reprint and use or not use your images in specific ways as outlined in the agreement.
What will you do with my images?
Images from my sessions are used for marketing and promotional purposes. They will be used throughout my website, blog, facebook page and where ever else necessary, both in print as well as online media. It is always a possibility that I might enter some of the images in competitions or sell them. However this is only done if they are to be used legitimately and ethically. While the use of these images is at my discretion, I will usually check with you first.
Do you do head swapping? Can you remove pimples, blemishes, birthmarks? Can you edit out certain things?
No, I do not do head swapping in Photoshop. Yes, I generally do remove pimples, blemishes, rashes etc but I do not remove birthmarks, moles or scars unless specifically requested by you. I will try as much as possible to ensure that children’s faces are clean during the session. As for editing out certain things, it all depends on what “it” is. For example, if it is something distracting from your clothing then no. This is why clothing choices are so important!
What should I wear?
Once you have booked a session with me, I will send you some information that will help you with your choices of what to wear as well as what NOT to wear. Clothing choices are critical as the wrong choice can ruin an otherwise beautiful photograph.
What happens if it rains?
If it is overcast or only a very light shower, I normally do not cancel. Normally, I check the weather forecast a few days before the session and if it is very likely to rain or not likely to stop if it has been raining in the morning, then I will reschedule.
What if I have to cancel?
If your child is sick then naturally we will reschedule. You won’t lose your booking fee since you are not canceling the session altogether. Please give me at least 24 hours notice if you can unless it is an emergency.
