What to Expect on the Day

Children are unpredictable at best! I always take my lead from them and go with the flow. Some children will follow instructions and some won't but if there is one thing that they all have in common is the love to play! When they play, they are relaxed and they are themselves and this will translate to natural, candid and yet orchestrated shots. My advise to all parents is to relax and enjoy the session. Let your hair down and play with your children and let me capture that!

The session will generally last between 1-2 hours and approximately 3 hours for newborns. However, when children are involved, it can be unpredictable. Sometimes the session could last a little bit longer and sometimes shorter!

What to wear

It is best to avoid clothes with bold logos, cartoon characters or "loud & noisy" patterns as they tend to draw the attention away from the subject. It is also a good idea to bring some change of clothing particularly for babies or small children. Accessories such as beanies, hats, scarves or jackets can often enhance the overall look. Layering is usually the best way to achieve many varied looks within the session. Opt for solid dark or bold colours.

For family portraits, not everyone has to have matching colours. Just ensure that the colours complement rather than clash. While denim photographs well, it is ABSOLUTELY not necessary for everyone to wear jeans and white T-shirt!.

When it comes to footwear, sometimes bare feet can work wonders!

In short, simple and classic style of clothing is best as they will not date but instead will remain elegant and timeless.

Booking

Once you have booked a session with me (please contact me via email, thecolourinyouphotography@gmail.com or 0422 226 937 to book) and paid the booking fee, you will receive some information regarding the photo session.

I will arrange to meet with you in person or contact you via email or phone if the former is not possible for me to understand what you would like out of the session, to explain what usually takes place during the session and to discuss possible locations. Basically, it is an opportunity for both parties to meet first before the session.

For more information have the look at the FAQ section.
